THE COMPASSION PROJECT

MISSION
The mission of The Compassion Project is to facilitate the transformation of inner and outer beauty, for women in transitional housing by rebuilding self-esteem and confidence.

PURPOSE
The Metamorphosis Women’s Empowerment Conference is designed to provide spiritual and practical empowerment for all women.  Many women who reside temporarily in transitional housing suffer from lowered emotional and mental spirits. They are often forced to live in these housing communities as a result of a tragic or catastrophic event that has occurred in their lives.  We believe preparing these women mentally and physically prior to the conference will provide them with an increased level of self-comfort.

GOAL
The women are invited to attend Metamorphosis as special guests where they will experience spiritual empowerment through positive messages that Restore, Renew, Redefine, and Rebuild their broken worlds, allowing them to Rejoice with other women in their transformation.  The women undergo a day of beauty and pampering at Houston area beauty salon.

Past Compassion Projects
2006 – Victims of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita were invited to attend Metamorphosis at no cost. They were treated as our special guests.

2007 – Women from the Star of Hope and Fort Bend Women’s Shelter were treated to a “Day at the Salon” where they experienced a full day at a professional salon which included complete makeovers and wardrobe styling.

2008 – Women from the Star of Hope, Bridge Over Troubled Waters, and Fort Bend Women’s Shelter will be treated to a “Day at the Salon”. They will experience a full day at a professional salon that will include complete makeovers and wardrobe styling.

On March 3, 2008 the transformation will begin!

Prison Outreach
As an outgrowth of Metamorphosis, 10 teachers will host Bible study and a worship experience at the Carol Young Unit of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. Female offenders will be given an opportunity to hear the gospel and experience a “Mini-Metamorphosis” on January 22, 2008.
