In 2000, God planted a visionin Minister Mia Wright’s heart for a women’s conference unlike any she had ever experienced. Guided by God’s vision, this conference would be different from other conferences in that it would transform women’s lives. A spiritual transformation that would have a lasting affect on all areas of a woman’s life – her inner and outer beauty would be refined, her mind renewed and her spirit rejuvenated. Women would rejoice in unity with other women. Sharing this vision with her husband, Pastor Remus Wright, the two prayerfully began to seek God for direction; direction for the change that would be received, the resources that would be needed, and the people who would help develop the vision into reality.
God’s plan moves into action. 2001 was a year of preparation. A conference planning team, the Alpha Team, was formed at The Fountain of Praise and 20 women began working with Minister Mia to start this transformational journey. Inspired by God’s word, Pastor Wright named the conference Metamorphosis to symbolize the change this conference would inspire.
Metamorphosis - a : change of physical form, structure, or substance especially by supernatural means b: a striking alteration in appearance, character, or circumstances
God’s Vision Becomes Reality with the First Metamorphosis Conference.
The inaugural conference held in March 2002 in Galveston, Texas, featured Evangelist Sara Barbour of Indianapolis and Reverend Connie Jackson of Atlanta. Both speakers were instrumental in the overwhelming success of the first conference by delivering God’s word in powerful sermons. Conference workshops inspired and challenged women further to embrace the changes God had in store for them.
An earthly symbol of change, the transformation of a caterpillar to a butterfly was adopted to reflect this spiritual Metamorphosis. Women began to proudly wear colorful butterfly pins. Their pins not only reminded them of their transformative experience at the conference but also provided an opportunity to witness when others would compliment or inquire about their pin. The butterfly continues to be embraced as a reminder of the Metamorphosis experience.
“I have never experienced anything as spiritual as this in my entire life. If anyone had told me that one weekend would change the life of a 70 year old woman, I would not have believed it myself! Thank God for Metamorphosis!” –Sister T. F., retired educator
Be Renewed in the Spirit of Your Mind! In 2003, God instructed the conference planners to take it higher! This year’s conference was held during the summer with Evangelist Sara Barbour and Reverend Connie Jackson returning as conference speakers. A prayer breakfast was added this year offering women additional opportunities to fellowship and rejoice in unity with other women. Interactive workshops on a variety of topics were added to provide a small group atmosphere. These workshops enabled women to get to the heart of the matter on topics such as: “Bitterness from Betrayal – Breaking Down Barriers to Forgiveness”, “Beautiful Inside-Out”, “Fearfully & Wonderfully Made”, “My Body, God’s Temple”.
I cannot put a price on the knowledge and feeling that comes along with knowing that just because I started out as a caterpillar, does not mean I have to stay one. All the struggles, hurts and pains are part of the "cocoon" process which in the end will transform that lowly caterpillar into a beautiful butterfly. -Sister L. P., stay at home mom
It’s Time for Your Change! In its third year, the conference became more revival focused and continued to be inspirational and life changing to those who attended. With great enthusiasm over 1,000 women received the word of God in 2004 from Minister Mia Wright, Reverend Claudette Copeland, Reverend Joyce Rogers and Elder Deborah Morton. This year’s empowerment sessions covered such topics as: Empowered to Succeed, Empowered to Thrive, Empowered to Excel, Empowered to Prosper and Empowered by the Spirit. Sessions featured a panel of experts to connect women with information and resources to inspire them to greatness.
I just wanted to say the conference was awesome! The Lord made a way for me to be there and I surely needed it. I've been in Houston about 10 months, and it felt good to meet Christian ladies to fellowship with. I have worn my butterfly pin, and received questions about it. I feel it is a tool for witnessing. I can say with pure excitement the conference was absolutely awesome!! -Sister A. S., Administrative Assistant
Transforming Actions, Attitudes and Lives!God birthed in Minister Mia’s spirit a promise of over 3,000 women for Metamorphosis 2005. Even though this number far exceeded the attendance of previous years’ conferences, the leadership embraced God’s vision and proclaimed it loudly. And God’s promise was fulfilled. The anointed and dynamic Minister Mia Wright, Evangelist Joyce Rogers and Pastor Paula White ministered to over 3,000 women. Women felt their spirits uplifted and their lives truly transformed.
I just want to thank you for the Metamorphosis Conference 2005. It has really put me back on track with the Lord in my life. I surrender my life to Him and am ready and willing to do what He wants me to do in His Kingdom. I realize that He saved me for a reason and that all the things I went through in life were for a purpose. Now I have to help women who have been in my situation and let them know that if the Lord can bring me through He can do the same for them.
- Sister C.C. Medical Worker
Behold, Proclaim, Anticipate Your Destiny!Once again the promise of God was to see 3000 women hungry for a change and ready for His promises. And once again, God fulfilled His promise! Women lined the streets in cars, waiting to park, stood in lines waiting to enter, all the while generating an energy and excitement in which God would ultimately do His work in their lives. Minister Mia Wright, Evangelist Joyce Rogers and Pastor Jackie McCullough each brought messages that impacted women’s lives.
EMPOWERED!Experience the fullness of life! An unexpected sell out of over 3,500 registrants two weeks before the conference created a tremendous atmosphere in the city of Houston. Metamorphosis was the place to be March 2007 as thousands of women came prepared to receive what God had in store for them! Minister Mia Wright, Evangelist Joyce Rogers and Dr. Juanita Bynum brought messages of empowerment through God. Empowerment Sessions were held to develop women in the areas of mental health, travel and relaxation, financial management and investment, health and exercise, and pursuing their passion for entrepreneurship.
